Bank of England visit Accrington primary school

Local pupils demonstrate financial capability skills

John Young, the BofE’s North West Agent, spent half a day with Baxenden St John’s students as they learned all about money and budgeting.

Three of the children (pictured) were selected to be Money Mentors, assisting the teachers in delivering the lesson and helping their fellow pupils complete the tasks.

Brian Souter, DebtAware’s Education Manager explained;

“Today the children were doing Module 2 of the two-year programme, focusing on the difference between wants and needs and exploring budgeting. It’s fantastic that the Bank of England have taken such a keen interest in the financial education of our North West children and have taken the time to see the programme in action.”
